Best Seasonal Restaurants in Big Pine Key

The experience was decent overall, but it fell short in several key areas. Our server had an overly intense, high-energy approach, which felt more distracting than welcoming. Additionally, the 2.5% credit card fee left a bad taste—feeling unnecessary and out of place when spending hundreds of dollars on what’s meant to be a fine dining experience. The lobster dish was a disappointment—it was difficult to remove from the shell and smothered in sauce, making it messy and frustrating to eat. The presentation of the fin dish was unimpressive, and the cheese course felt like an afterthought, offering small portions of good cheese bulked up with large chunks of fruit. The saffron sorbet, while attempting to be innovative, missed the mark and didn’t stand out. One of the biggest drawbacks was the concept of a constantly changing menu every 45 days. While it’s an ambitious approach, it made the dishes feel like experimental work in progress rather than perfected, signature offerings. This lack of refinement hurt the overall experience, leaving us feeling like test subjects rather than guests at an established, polished restaurant. On the positive side, the wine list was excellent, though it was disappointing that our waiter couldn’t provide much guidance. The octopus hot dogs were the clear highlight of the meal—unique, flavorful, and well-executed. However, despite moments of promise, the restaurant ultimately doesn’t quite live up to its aspirations, feeling more focused on novelty than delivering a truly exceptional dining experience.

Food was very good overall. The couscous was very bland. The lobster was good but a touch chewy. The surprise anniversary key lime pie dessert was a wonderful surprise - this was the ONLY acknowledgment of our 25th wedding anniversary we received at this ‘resort’. Our Server was very friendly and did a lovely job. Service was a bit slow but that wasn’t his fault. We were one of 3 couples in the dining area so it wasn’t because they were busy. The prices aren’t bad considering how expensive this area is. The curry on my husband’s dish was delicious.

Sophia was a wonderful server! Friendly, smart and very knowledgeable and efficient.

I had a great dinner!!! Got seated by the marina outdoors I totally recommend it! Great views and the weather was perfect today. We got the stone crab which are seasonal and if they are when your here get them the mustard sauce is amazing with them! Also had to get some oysters, we did the ones with caviar and they were divine. For our entrée, we got the fried snapper and it had a side of rice and beans with a mango salsa and a tartar sauce, and it was the perfect size. We finished everything. We were totally full at the end, but not overwhelmed. The food was great. Service was good. Will totally come back when I’m down in the keys. 

We had the Toes in the Sand experience and it was amazing! The location and table setup were beautiful and the service and food were impeccable. I can’t recommend this experience enough for a special occasion or just to treat yourself to a beachfront private dining experience. We booked a time that allowed us to be there for sunset and into the night. We can’t wait to go back!
