- DDavidVIPWashington, D.C. Area •9 reviews5.0Dined 6 days agoVia del Corso has become a favorite spot of ours over the past few years; first as we visited Berkeley, and now as we’ve become residents. One of our top choices when hosting out of town guests. The restaurant delivers a consistent dining experience with a menu reflecting the freshest of ingredients available. You will always find reliable standbys, such as Mary’s Chicken Breast, on the menu. In addition, a fine selection of house-made pastas, meat and fish entrees; not to mention vegetarian options. As we often do, my wife and I sat at the chef’s counter, allowing us to observe the meal preparation. Tonight we went with the swordfish entree, which was excellent. We never hesitate to quiz our server about their recommendations; they tend to be spot-on. It is refreshing to find a restaurant that has earned a reputation for treating their staff well; obvious by the very low turnover amongst the chefs and servers. We’ll return again and again!More infoVia del CorsoPrice: Moderate• Italian• Berkeley•4.9

- BBSan Francisco Bay Area •3 reviews5.0Dined on Dec 16, 2024Skates on the Bay in Berkeley provided a delightful lunch experience today as I caught up with a dear friend. We started with the artichoke and crab dip, which was rich and creamy, featuring generous chunks of fresh crab. It was served warm with toasted baguette slices, making it perfect for sharing while we chatted. For my main course, I enjoyed the salmon sandwich, which was a true highlight. The salmon was flaky and moist, topped with creamy avocado and served on a toasted brioche bun. The presentation was impeccable, making it almost too pretty to eat! The service was attentive yet unobtrusive, with our server offering excellent recommendations. The restaurant's waterfront location provided stunning views of the San Francisco Bay, creating an inviting atmosphere for our leisurely lunch. Overall, my experience at Skates on the Bay was exceptional, combining fresh seafood, beautiful presentation, and attentive service—an ideal spot for enjoying great food with friends!More infoSkates on the BayPrice: Expensive• Seafood• Berkeley•4.6
