Set on Mitchell Hill, a medieval route from the city of Truro to the East, in a quiet, historical quarter, The Rising Sun is the hub of the local community and a destination for visitors to the county. Surrounded by charming lanes with views to the cathedral, diverse historical buildings, an abundance of trees and greenery.Seven years ago Katie & Tom Hannon stepped into a very dark and sad shell of a pub. An overwhelming amount of work paled into insignificance against the excitement at what they thought could be created in this out of the way building with a very long and interesting history. A lot of hard labour ensued to create their vision of showcasing the best qualities of a modern pub; seamlessly combining carefully sourced, sophisticated yet familiar food and drink in a welcoming authentic pub environment. Elegant, delicious food alongside fantastic local beers, unusual wines and a great array of craft spirits all wrapped up in a relaxed atmosphere.

Nothing quite captures the spirit of a Cornish summer than following a summertime dip in its azure waters with a plate of lusciously fresh local seafood. Happily, that's just the experience to be found here at Hooked on the Rocks, which is just yards from the shore of Swanpool beach near Falmouth. Visit to experience local, sustainable seafood such as Falmouth Bay scallops, Falmouth Bay lobster or crab, whole fish from Newlyn Fish Market or a Shellfish Platter to share, all designed to satiate the appetite of any sandy‑toed gourmet. Dogs are welcome in our heated awning area or on our sea view terrace.Head Chef: Jack Frame

Firstly the staff. Absolutely superb - we were well looked after. Food allergies were taken into account and options were explained for each course.. The food - wow - everything we ate was delicious and elevated. The place itself. Incredibly cozy. Overall, a level of excellence that is synonymous with the Adam Handling name. This lunch was a gift for my in-laws and they absolutely loved it. If you have an opportunity to go, do not miss out.

We had a family gathering today for lunch to celebrate Christmas , the roast beef and turkey was so delicious, all of my family enjoyed starter to desert. Plates were hot, food hot, plenty of vegetables and super delicious cauliflower cheese. Thank you for making Christmas special.

Superb meal, pre Christmas lunch for 2, prawn crudo, lobster thermidor, skinny fries and chestnut sprouts. Poached pear with ginger was a delight too. If you really enjoy a place, it automatically has value. Wine list takes a great alternate path, loved the chilled Pinot from Languedoc We’ll be back
