Best Restaurants with a Tasting Menu in The Village

Our meal at Avelo was a “first” for our family. We, bravely, brought our two children with us for a special dinner not knowing what to expect. The moment we stepped in, we were welcomed warmly and the server knew of our indicated allergies (that we indicated online) before we sat down and confirmed them once again before every course… She even went as far as to wash her hands before serving our children due to possible cross contamination. The food was creative and fun, but most importantly, it was SAFE for our children. The food was delicious and although many of the dishes were a little too “sophisticated” for our children, our son ate a full course of Brussel sprouts, our daughter finished the mushroom course, and they both loved trying new things. We clearly were the outliers bringing our family to dine for the early seating, and if we return to Toronto we would return to Avelo without the children.

The service and ambiance was great. Notable dishes were the challah and fluke and fennel. The fries were perfectly crispy and the broccoli was very flavourful. However, the ribeye was average, it lacked flavour but cooked properly yo medium rare.

Awesome experience. Our waiter ordered for us. He brought a great assortment of sashimi and sushi, we split two different glasses of saki and had a dessert. Bill was $260 for two plus tip, but for the quality and variety of food it was worth it as a special occasion dinner.
