A Culinary Delight at Delena: A Michelin Star Experience in Washington DC Today, I had the most wonderful lunch at Delena, a Michelin-starred gem in Washington DC, owned by the renowned Chef Richard Sandoval. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm, inviting, and impeccably elegant—perfect for a midday escape into culinary bliss. I started with their signature appetizer crab pumpkin soup, which was beautifully plated and full of bold, vibrant flavors. For my main course, I enjoyed a perfectly cooked birria taco dish that was a masterpiece of both taste and presentation—each bite was an experience! The delicate balance of spices and textures showcased why Chef Sandoval’s cuisine is so highly celebrated. To end the meal on a sweet note, I indulged in a decadent oxaca corn cake dessert, which was almost too beautiful to eat.     The food was impeccable, creative, and elegant. Familiar flavours that came together in a completely unique way, with a wonderful balance of textures and flavours. The staff and service were also very attentive, personable, and hospitable. Every detail of care and service was attended to. And it was a good amount of food, which is not always the case in fine dining — I was struggling to fit in my jeans at the end!

    Amazing selection of southern style food with some Asian twists. Nice wine selection. Beautiful dining room. Fantastic service. Recommend the deviled eggs, fried green tomato salad, and the collard greens. The steak was cooked perfectly with a pat of Cajun butter!

    Brought my boyfriend here to celebrate his 40th birthday. We arrived to an opening celebratory warm drink from the chef before being shown to our table. At the table we found a handwritten happy birthday card and proceeded to have the best dinner either of us has had in awhile. It was amazing. Our waiter, Nickoli ( hope I am spelling it correctly) was phenomenal. We loved our time here and left with full belly’s and happy hearts. Much thanks!
