Travis and Ryan Croxton debut their spinoff from the highly acclaimed Rappahannock Oyster Bar at Union Market in Washington, DC. They’ve even brought their DC Chef, Kevin Kelly, to man the kitchen at this outpost. This location in the historic Cigar Factory Building on East Bay Street, allows room for Chef Kelly to showcase more of his cuisine to a larger audience, including an incredibly unique 40 seat raw bar. Oysters grown by the Croxton’s own Rappahannock Oyster Company are accentuated, but Kelly’s signature dishes like lambs’n’clams, crabcakes, shrimp & grits and the best po’ boy you’ll ever eat are enough reasons in their own right for constant visits. Coupled with a great cocktail program and focus on local ingredients, ROB is a great place for any occasion.

Our server Josh was very knowledgeable about the menu and considerate of the allergies at the table. The gluten free dessert was delicious! Will definitely be a staple in our family.

We had lunch at Virginia’s on King and overall it was a good experience. Our wait person was friendly and helpful which kicked things off on the right note. Sadly they were out of the deviled eggs, so we opted for fried green tomatoes which arrived are out table piping hot and tasty. My husband enjoyed his pulled pork sandwich with vinegar based BBQ sauce, slaw, pickles and steak fries. I never pass up a meatloaf sandwich but this one was served on Texas toast and there was way too much ‘bread’ versus meatloaf. The meatloaf was tasty, the aioli was good, and the fries were excellent. Would I order the meatloaf sandwich again? Only if was served on a bun.

This was our second visit. The grilled oysters were just as delicious! And what an awesome addition-scallops! Grilled scallops with delicious cheese/bacon & jalapeño slice on top. Amazing! My husband and I continued to eat just these two items until our belly’s were full. Yum!!

A top-notch dining experience. The Wagyu hanger steak and filet mignon were delicious and properly cooked to our specifications. The quality of the food alone will bring us back, but the service was right up there as well. Our server was personable, knowledgeable and incredibly attentive. In addition, the owner and manager both checked on us several times to ensure our expectations were being met. We've dined in many restaurants in Charleston and seldom do we leave a restaurant with the feeling that we are really looking forward to going back. We certainly felt that way after dining at Burwell's.
