River House Restaurant and Raw Bar is Louisville’s premiere riverfront dining destination. It is the vision of award-winning chef and restaurateur John Varanese and seats 330 in its main dining room, raw bar, and patio. Guests experience a charming “home like” atmosphere as they enter the restaurant from the front porch garden area. Enter through a 20-foot tall by 40-foot wide water wall, and enjoy intimate decor, and a floor-to-ceiling glass wall overlooking the back courtyard and river, River House is open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner. The menu features regional cuisine with a Southern flair and an emphasis on fresh seafood including Grilled Oysters on the Half Shell, BBQ Braised Beef Short Rib, and the Maker’s Mark Bourbon Barrel Smoked Salmon.     Service was good. Clam chowder was exceptional, as was the calamari. The Alaskan King Crab jar was a little disappointing, but ok. The scallops were great , and th lobster Mac and cheese was delicious. The new your strip was served medium rare. I ordered it medium, and should have sent it back. It was not great, but I took it home and ate it the next day after I finished it properly. I enjoyed my meal as did my wife. If I had one complaint it would be the valet parking for less than two hours was $26.00. Plus tip.

    ❤️ Wonderful restaurant overlooking the river. We love the shrimp and grits, Greek salad and don’t forget to order the breadsticks with a garlic dipping sauce ! The hostess is amazing and we adore the waitresses. Cheers to this Louisville favorite!

    Dinner for 4. Our wait staff were wonderful, especially our primary server, Tyler. If lobster thermidor is on the menu, we recommend it. The grilled romaine salad is delicious. The smoked bourbon cocktail is fun and tasty. The key lime pie was very good, as was the butterscotch budino. Overall a great dining experience and is highly recommended.

    This Bistro was perfect! Amazing bourbon menu and the food was delicious. They were also very accommodating to our needs. Nice music touch and quaint atmosphere to actually talk amongst our group.
