First time here, 5 stars all the way around for us. Don’t understand the bad reviews about portion and price. It’s an upscale restaurant that serves, amongst other things, sushi. If you want a lot of sushi for cheap, there are plenty of places to choose from. But if you’ve seriously looked at Hestia’s menu, you’d know what you’re in for and shouldn’t act surprised or disappointed. We sat at the sushi bar, all the sushi chefs said hello and were friendly. We didn’t have huge appetites, so we shared two small plates, the hamachi crudo and seared scallop. Both were excellent, and the yuzu jelly with the hamachi was very good. Just a touch sweeter than I think it should have been but appropriately sour and refreshing. We split two rolls, the Tsurai with spicy tuna and the golden scallop. The Tsurai didn’t blow us away but was very good. Not as spicy as expected. The golden scallop was delicious. Savory, briny and sweet with lots of different textures. It’s a very large roll, and we felt it was priced fairly. The craftsmanship of both rolls was excellent and the sushi rice is expertly made. I also had nigiri, one piece each of sake toro and tuna toro. Very fresh, and the tuna was especially buttery. The individual slices of each fish were ample and cut appropriately, and the amount of rice with each was just enough. Yes, there is usually a small bit wasabi smeared on the rice before the fish is placed on top. This is normal, which is why they don’t advertise it like I’ve seen some commenters complain about. You’re stepping into a business specializing in creating things in specific ways, and in return you are getting an authentic preparation. If you want it done your way, I’m sure there’s a BK nearby. The ambiance was fine, music was a bit loud but it didn’t ruin any experience and wasn’t distracting. Our server was prompt and friendly, and other staff cleared away empty dishes rapidly. Management (I assume) checked on us during our meal. 5 stars, will return!
