Contrary to popular belief, JJ's Restaurant is not named for popular owner Jimmy Frantzé. In 1985, Jimmy purchased JJ Malane's from his former business partner and the saloon's namesake. Malane's went away, but JJ's remained, and a West Plaza fine dining icon was born. Good whiskey list. Should bring back the Pendergast Manhattan. Much better than Boss Tom. Or at least have the ingredients available to make the Pendergast. (Benedictine) Food was excellent and service prompt and friendly.

The owner and chef, Amante, has done a phenomenal job in curating this menu which is off the charts. They employ the Japanese practice of dry aging fish, which makes the dishes, especially the sushi quite delicious. The bartender is world class and their cocktails are made with much care and attention to detail. The ambience makes you feel you’re somewhere in New York or San Francisco. I believe there’s a good value for the money which all in ranges from $75-$100 a head. I plan to return here quite often as it is one of the best dining experiences in Kansas City.

We always love Buca. We had Caesar salad, chicken parmesan, shrimp alfredo, and stuffed shells. Everything was delicious. The service is always good as well. It can get a little bit loud at times just due to large parties, but it doesn't bother us. I would highly recommend.
