Best Restaurants for Foodies in Pocantico Hills

Vida was packed last night. 💃🏻 This is a brand new restaurant in Thornwood by the talented husband and wife duo at Augustine’s in Mamaroneck… Brianne Myers and Marc Taxiera. I love them as humans and am in awe of what they do as creatives/restauranteurs. I was worried about this newest endeavor only because their presence, in addition to incredible food, is such an integral part of Augustine’s success. How will they be able to nurture this baby as beautifully as their first? After visiting last night with a few friends, I no longer have any fears. Vida has been open a month and it felt like it had been operating successfully for years. I am neck deep in Christmas everything, but I am just so happy for Brianne and Marc, but also for Westchester. We needed some new “Vida” around these parts. Will def include comments under the photos. One more thing… omg the food. Oh and the glassware. and the patio that we will all enjoy in the Spring! ok… gotta go! So many gorgeous details. We’ve been going to the Cookery since it opened in 2009. We have developed an emotional connection with the restaurant. And the outstanding food isn’t the only reason. Dave DiBari pours his heart ❤️ into every plate that leaves their small kitchen. You can sense the passion with the wait staff and the other diners. We love going there and enjoying the total experience that the Cookery offers.

Wonderfully creative menu, attentive service, owners who are first-rate people all combine for a great dining experience

Great food, great setup, excellent service! Our waiter was super friendly, attentive, and changed grills frequently. We ordered the Yakuniku special for 4--food was very tasty and a good value. I was happy to be able to choose from both Kirin and Sapporo beer on tap! (I prefer Kirin.) Smokeless Japanese grill setup is excellent. Decor could be nicer, but that's a quibble. Overall, great family night dinner experience.

We were greeted by the warm and friendly staff, setting the tone for a great dining experience. For dinner we had a wonderful bottle of white wine and enjoyed the tender and flavorful octopus meze, followed by the fresh branzino fish with a classic greek salad. The food was authentic and we highly recommend.
