Best Restaurants for Outdoor Dining in Upcountry

Merrimans will likely be the best meal you will have on Maui. Everything that we ordered was delicious and even our 3 and 5 year olds devoured their food. The hostess, servers, and entire staff were very friendly and accommodating for our family. There was live music and the performer even did a rendition of Baby Shark in between calming smooth melodies. We had dinner near sunset and the view from our table was beautiful. We were even able to get up to take a picture with an even better point of view. The final check was a little pricey but definitely well worth the scrumptious food, lively and lovely ambiance, with superb service. I would definitely recommend you visit. Our favorite place on Maui!

Always one of our favorites. The new location is beautiful. Menu is creative and well executed with many great choices. Drinks are also emu ique and delicious. Staff is very friendly and efficient. my only negative was the shrimp tempura. Previous visits it has not had a crunchy crust. I wasn’t sure if it sat under heat lamps. I asked the server to make sure it was hot and crunchy, and she guaranteed. What came out from a runner was again soft breading (but tender shrimp), which we tore into and realized it was again soft. The server checked in and when we mentioned the texture, commented she wasn’t happy with that since she had specifically called it out to the cooks, and she was going to comp the dish. After we finished the plate, a runner came out with another plate hit and crunchy “on the house”. I appreciate the gesture, but now we were stuffed. I wish the manager had coordinated a bit better and we’d have had room for their amazing desserts. It also creates some breakdown in communication when they use runners to send food to the table instead of the server, who is more aware and focused on what concerns the customer has expressed (potentially including important allergies). If you like crisp tempura, make sure you ask for them to do that. Otherwise, this is an amazing place and we’ll certainly come back next trip.

The food here is amazing! So fresh since it is from their farm or nearby. The fresh summer rolls are now my gold standard. Everything was delicious!

Once again a lovely early evening/dinner at Duke’s! We’ve never been disappointed here! This trip to Maui I’ve had both the banana leaf fresh fish and the seafood risotto…both were amazing. My husband had the macadamia nut crusted fresh fish…also delicious. Our waiter Luke was attentive, knowledgeable and took great pics for us but never hovering. Without a doubt, we’ll be back next time we’re on Maui. This place has become one of our very favorite places to dine in the island.

Our server Nick was great! We went for happy hour and had Mai Thais that were out of this world. The kahlua pork and Jalapeno pizza was phenomenal as was the banana cream pie. Cannot recommend more!
