Forcella is bringing old-world Italian food to the North End of Boston.Nino Trotta — who owns Forcella alongside his girlfriend, general manager and co-owner Shannon MacGowan, and his brother, wine director Christian Trotta — say that the cozy, candlelit vibe of the restaurant sets Forcella apart in a sea of massive North End restaurants.“It’s tiny, 30 seats,” he said. “It’s perfect for a date.”The kitchen team has designed a menu that includes dishes from all over Italy, with a slight lean toward Naples, where the Trotta family is from. Primi dishes include meatballs, crispy quail, while pastas range from linguine alle vongole and risotto to gnocchi with braised rabbit. Salmon, ribeye, round out the menu.

Historically inspired but forward thinking food and drink menus feature fresh ingredients from near and far, while the comfortable space meets the needs and passing fancies of residents, workers and visitors alike. State Street Provisions is located at the intersection of State Street and Atlantic Avenue on Long Wharf, one of Boston’s most storied landmarks. From the moment you walk in the door, it’s as if you stepped back in time. The pink Christmas theme going throughout was adorable. Everyone was friendly and the food was phenomenal. My party especially liked the lasagna, that’s only served on Sundays. The one and only downfall is their house Cabernet is not good. That is the only one you can buy by the glass so you have to buy a bottle. But no problem they wrap it up for you to take home. I cannot wait to go back.

Decided to visit for my birthday because of a glowing referral from a neighbor of ours in Charlestown. We frequently walk into the North End for dinner and have been "in search of" our favorite restaurant. Well... we may have found it. Everything was excellent - food, service, wine list, and ambiance. Highly recommended.

First time at State Street Provisions. Had reservations for a high top table and was sat directly across from the bar and next to host stand. Perfect table for the two of us. Service was good. We both had the burger, fries, salad and heirloom carrots and all of it was delicious. The burger was my favorite! Flavors were yummy and cooked to perfection - medium rare. While I never order American cheese, it’s what came with the burger and it worked! Even the bun was delicious. I had the Pemberley cocktail. Don’t drink gin too often but boy was this delicious! We ended dinner with the Abuelita Panna Cota for dessert. It was tasty, just the right amount of sweetness! Great vibe in the bar area. Lights down low and tasteful Christmas decorations, warm and cozy. Will definitely go back!
