Best Lunch Restaurants in University City

We enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner at La Belle Helene. Everything was delicious and perfectly prepared: the turkey was so moist, the gravy was perfect, the potatoes and stuffing were great and the green beans had a nice little crunch to them. Our server was so friendly and professional and really made it such a nice occasion. I had never dined out on Thanksgiving and was worried about it but our experience here exceeded all expectations!

We had a great dinner experience at the Golden Owl Tavern. This was a special dinner as we were meeting the family of my sister's fiance for the first time. It was the Tuesday before Thanksgiving so the UNC Charlotte Marriott hotel where the restaurant is located was pretty empty. I originally reserved for 6 but as more family came it ballooned to 10. The staff were very accommodating with the change. The food was excellent! Definitely the best I've had in Charlotte so far. We ate light since our reservations were late in the evening so I can't comment on the entrees. I ordered the shrimp tacos and cornbread skillet which were both excellent. My son had a $6 burger and fries from the kids menu which honestly was adult sized - excellent value! My husband had the rosemary fries and our guests had an assortment of foods from the menu, all of which looked good and had substantial portions. No complaints from anyone on the food, drinks or service. It was a good night!

We came to the Speedway Club for a special dinner overlooking the Christmas lights they had just installed. It was a beautiful evening! 

Savannah was our server, for our table of 10. She did a fantastic job with our group. She was very personable. She was always on top of our needs and made sure everything was great. She does a great job!

The waiter’s we’re doing what they could and kept cool and composed the whole time! In one ocasión I asked for manager because we were an hour in and no drinks nor pre ordered appetizer, she finally came and by then I had my drinks so I told her I was good, she passed by 2 other tables as poor waiters were running all over the place without drinks in their cups! She was already on the floor she could have been a good leader and helped her staff on the floor instead of running back into hiding. There was no beer only one particular brand, they were out of more than half of their mixed drinks!? The server honestly was the only reason I didn’t get my family and leave like others did, she tried her very best to keep us happy!
