Thomas Makris, from the Island of Skopelos, fell in love when he met Helen Babalos. They met at Orestes Greek restaurant in 1974, while on a Greek dancing tour of North America. Soon after their marriage, they had a vision to open a place like no other in Vancouver; a Greek restaurant where everyone is family; where everyone receives a consistent experience created by delicious homemade authentic food and impeccable service. In 1984 they opened Anatoli Souvlaki in north Vancouver. My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at this restaurant, and it was such a magical evening. The staff congratulated us, and we even received a lovely treat from the restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious! I highly recommend trying the prime ribs — they are simply outstanding and worth every bite. The service was top-notch: attentive, friendly, and professional. We will definitely be coming back!
