Au contraire. This is your classic, everyday neighborhood French bistro run by Chef Paul Magu-Lecugy & his wife, Laura. That kind of cozy little place you’d imagine in Saint Michel or Saint Germain. Not smack dab in the middle of the 'burbs. But lucky for you, that’s exactly where 5-star chef Paul Magu will be paying homage to the French comfort food that he fell in love with as a boy growing up in Paris. Enzo Rosano grew up in a town just outside of Naples, Italy. His fondest memories of his childhood are centered around his mother’s cooking and the spirited meals he shared with his eight siblings. Mama Carmela’s amazing cooking kept her children close to home throughout their childhood and young adulthood. Her culinary influence also played a role in Enzo’s decision to enroll in the Scuola Alberghieria Culinary and Hospitality program in Naples. Upon completion of his culinary training, Enzo landed a job as bartender at Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s Vong’s in London. Next was a stop as bar manager at The Berkeley Knightsbridge, a luxury property also in London. When he came to the Bay Area, his first stop was in Half Moon Bay where he helped open one of the town’s most popular restaurants, Mezza Luna, with family friend, Roberto Giovanni. At Caffe Riace,Enzo joined his brothers and worked alongside them as they made plans to open AquaPazza in San Mateo in 2008

Our dinner experience was superb. Our only complaint was the noise level which was a problem considering we were 6 people with three having hearing issues. Once I raised the question of noise the maître d tried to help us, but there were no tables available. My next visit with a group will be asking for a quieter place to sit. Our friends all loved their dinners. Two of us had an exceptional linguine with sea food. Our dish had plenty of shrimp, scallops, clams and muscles (all sweet and fresh) with baked cloves of garlic and cherry tomatoes making up the sauce. My husband had the bolognese in egg noodles. Delicious. The linguine, like all of their pastas are made in house, making all of the pastas noteworthy. My dish was so delectable that I had to push the dish away before I devoured it all. It was enough for two people to share especially with a salad which were quite large. Two friends had the barramundi fish dinner on Il Fornaio specials menu. They raved about it. My other friend had a large salad with broiled large shrimp and a vegetable soup. Last, but not least, the attention of our wait staff was excellent. Our server was knowledgeable, friendly and unobtrusive. The atmosphere is beautiful and elegant and we intend to go back next week to celebrate our 44th anniversary. Thank you for a truly wonderful meal.

Love the food and service. In my opinion serving beverages in tiny glasses for $19 is overpriced. I don’t see the value there. That’s why I gave it four stars instead of five. Love the Pinsa but stay away from the artichoke and potato one. It’s just not a good combination. All the other Pinsa‘s are delicious as well as the rest of the food on the menu.
