Kembara is the latest project from Chef Angelo Sosa that embraces Asian street food cultures, exemplifying the tradition of cherishing time-honored recipes, while also playfully innovating upon familiar flavors and techniques for fresh takes. The menu is an homage to Chef Sosa’s travels across Asia, with inspiration drawn from countries including Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Cambodia, China, Singapore and Japan. Each dish is constructed around Chef Sosa’s concept of a “trinity of flavors”—a balance between sweet, sour and salty elements that culminate in a perfect bite of harmony.Located inside of the JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge Resort & Spa

My partner and I ordered the Fennel salad special was amazing hope they include for a regular. We both ordered the Carbonara and it was the best I’ve ever had before!! Would definitely order again. Being an interior designer just wish they would do more in the dining area on the walls. Just seems so bland and unexciting. I could definitely see some black and white large photos of Italy and perhaps the family. Some free advice lol!

The food was delicious, the staff was very accommodating, and we were seated outside so it wasn’t noisy at all. The heater outside didn’t work, but the staff attempted to fixed it multiple times. Overall a great time and would recommend. The food was slower to come out so plan accordingly if you are eating with kids like we were. Again did not take away from our experience, just a heads up. The food was worth it.

Server Ibrahim was terrific. Food choices were great. Salads were mostly the greens. For instance the Beet salad was large enough to share with 3 or 4 people but had maybe 1 beet cut up in the entire salad. Hard to call that a beet salad. The watermelon and burata salad again could be shared with 3 or 4 people and had less than a cup of watermelon. Almost all burata. The short ribs were dry, which was surprising as they are usually prepared in a juice or sauce and very wet and juicy. The stuffed poblano pepper was under cooked, almost like it was blanched. Finally, if you are going to pour $100+ red wine bottles you should have appropriate stemware. Serving those wines in smallish white wine glasses is just wrong.
