Chaplin's Restaurant & Bar is a 1930's style Japanese Ramen House and cocktail bar. Chaplin's Executive Chef and Partner, Myo Htun, is originally from Burma, but was cooking ramen in Japan at a young age. Myo received a blessing from his mentor in Japan after nearly 30 years of cooking in Japan, to come to America and continue to showcase his authentic Ramen and traditional Japanese cuisine. Chaplin's Restaurant demonstrates the aesthetic of a bustling ramen house in Japan in the 1930's silent film era. There is also a large outdoor dining area that is dog friendly. I've been to this restaurant about a dozen times in the last year or two and have never been disappointed. I wish it was closer to my house! We often go in a group of 5-7 people and it amazes me how quickly the food comes out; I do not recall any mishaps with our orders. I'm a fan of their tacos, especially the mushroom, pulpo and vegetarian. I've had their chapulines tacos a couple years ago, but they (little grasshoppers) have not been on the menu lately as far as I know; was I the only one ordering them;) Waiters are always helpful and accommodating. They have indoor and outdoor seating, weather permitting. Parking can be a challenge, but that is true of most of Bethesda.
