Walk-in's always welcome! Screen Door is a restaurant that presents itself as a love letter to the American South and the revival of regional cooking. Each day, the restaurant receives natural, local organic meats and produce from nearby vendors. The inclusion of regional Pacific Northwest ingredients into a menu of dishes developed in the south has created a unique flavor profile in Screen Door's menu. Many of Screen Doors dishes draw their inspiration from Louisiana and the Cajun cooking that's found there. These include our world-famous fried chicken, Lowcountry shrimp and grits, smoked andouille chicken gumbo and fried okra. Other items, like the house-smoked beef brisket and braised pork shoulder, come straight from the state of Texas.     Today, we went and had dinner at Morton Steak House in Portland, Oregon. Before going to the Nutcracker Ballet show. When we entered the restaurant, we were flabbergasted. Because Morton Steak House is packed. We did not see any open table. Our reservation is six o'clock and the show is at 7:30 pm. I really got worried, I told my husband, "we might get our food late and be late on the show." Anyways, we proceeded to order our food. We ordered ribeye steak, and the steak is excellent. The bake potato is to die for. The asparagus is overcooked. We enjoyed sparkling lemonade and lavander peach( non alcoholic drink). The very best with our dinner is our server. We mentioned to him that we have a show to see at 7:30pm. He made sure we got our food on time and not be late on the show. He is awesome and took care of us. He is very attentive and always checking on us. We finished our dinner on time and got to see the show with no problem. Unfortunately, I was not able to get his (server) name. MORTON STEAK HOUSE, you have one of the very best and awesome servers in your restaurant. Thank you

    We sat at the chef's counter with a great view into the tiny kitchen, which was an experience in itself. No wonder the food is so good because that's one peaceful, harmonious and efficient kitchen. The service stands out at L'Orange for enthusiasm and personal attention. Our server, Erica, was so lovely and that last time I was there I also had an amazing server. We ordered the mushroom broth-based French onion soup, which was my daughter's favorite due to the garlic bread pudding - custardy texture against the crispiness of the cheese - and the intricate, delicious flavors. I had (for the second time) gnocchi which does not fail to delight due to the pillowy texture and layers of sauces and flavors. Dessert must include the orange cake because the flavor of natural orange is strong and pleasant. Again with the textures: burnt sugar crust, moist cake, cardamon icing and orange gelee. So many flavors to mix and match on the fork. We also had the white chocolate mousse with layers of cake and cranberry. So good. We'll be back for the service, the food and the sweet ambiance.

    Salmon was out of this world. I NEVER eat salmon skin, but the way this was pan seared and then finished under broil, it left the skin delicately crispy and perfectly seasoned. Soooooo good.

    The service was outstanding. Our meals were quite tasty and the perfect size portions that didn't leave us feeling like we had to overeat. We really enjoyed watching the Christmas ships preparing for their voyage that night.
