The dining area is loud, but the tables are spaced such that you can hear those at your table. I ordered the 14 oz ribeye for $65. This is a value because it comes with a giant carrot (has to be GMO) with special glaze and a choice of potato (baked, smashed, skillet fried potatoes topped with onions and gravy, sweet potato, or fries). The problem was that the ribeye came out and it looked like a thin New York strip full of gristle. It was the most disappointing steak that I’ve had in a very long time. I expect a ribeye to have marbling, but not gristle. To the server’s credit she took the entire meal off of my check. I declined a replacement entree because my dinner companions were already finished with their meals, I was traveling the next day, and leftovers would not work for me. I would have accepted a compensatory dessert, but they did not have any gluten free options other than crème brûlée. My dinner companions are local residents. They love the shrimp pasta dish, the crab cakes, and Caesar salad (lightly tossed) are their favorites. But, after my steak mishap, they remembered that another visitor had a horrible experience when ordering a ribeye. He thought it was a one off incident, but now suspects that Bob’s just does not have a good ribeye. He said that when the visitor ordered the 28 oz porterhouse steak the next visit that it was wonderful. While I appreciate that the server took care of my meal, I did not like it that she tried to counsel me that ribeyes often are fatty with gristle and that I should order the filet next time. I did not bother to argue the absurdity of her point. Overall, I would definitely try Bob’s again to order a steak other than the ribeye.More infoBob’s Steak & Chop House – Amelia IslandPrice: Expensive• Steakhouse• Amelia Island•4.7
