We’ve long loved Canary Wharf and it's rich history of the nearby Docklands and Billingsgate Market, yet Blacklock in a glass tower never quite fit. One look at an old disused warehouse nestled cosily in the corner of Canary Wharf underneath the train tracks of the North Dock and we knew we had found home. Blacklock is a modern version of the Great British chophouse. Set in an old electricity substation on the site of London"s oldest meat market. Hawksmoor Wood Wharf is housed in an eco-friendly floating pavilion in a new riverside neighbourhood in Canary Wharf. Gently rising and falling with the tide, the main restaurant at dock-level is joined by a 120-seat waterside bar. Both include terraces with views across the water (squint your eyes and you might just see the ghosts of great ships laden with mighty lengths of timber that used to swing in and unload there). There's also a private dining room for up to 20 people named after the local legend Queenie Watts, a singer, songwriter, actor and self-confessed bawdy landlady (think Peggy Mitchell meets Joni Mitchell). I recently dined solo at Blacklock Canary Wharf, and it was a fantastic experience. The staff was friendly and attentive, making me feel right at home. I started with a delicious mocktail ,followed by a perfectly cooked fillet, tender and juicy at medium doneness. The sweet potatoes and beets with goats cured were absolutely outstanding. To finish, the bread and butter pudding with custard was the perfect indulgence. An all-around amazing meal with exceptional service.

Artur was an amazing server and extremely attentive to our table. He is a credit to the company. Also the complimentary cheesecake for my girlfriend’s birthday was 10/10 and I quote from my girlfriend “the best cheesecake I have ever had”. Keep up the good work!

The Thai Curry was delicious I ate everything on my plate. Rice was too small a portion though. I was disappointed that the restaurant did not have Prawn with was on the menu, instead I had to settle for squid in my sauce. Also the menu is too small for such establishment. I thought they would have a wide range of different foods available. Overall it was ok. My server Renee if that her name was outstanding. I will go again this time to experience the Lounge.
