Since 1746, the building that houses this tavern has played a part in the establishment of our nation; first as a respite for stagecoach travelers expanding westward and later as a covert rendezvous point for George Washington, Marquis de Lafayette, and other leaders of the American revolution. It is believed that during the infamous winter of 1777–1778 at Valley Forge, a major figure in the Continental Army, master military mind Friedrich Von Steuben, designated the tavern as a secret black powder munitions stash for Continental Army couriers. All the while, the tavern continued to provide food, shelter and cheer to the hungry, weary soldiers fighting for their independence. Today, we honor our historic tavern’s tradition with a mission to raise the spirits of our guests. Busy afternoon at The Silverspoon! Despite it being a full restaurant, the service was attentive and efficient. I enjoyed the avocado toast - with the egg oden perfectly. The waiter did not rush us through the meal. I always enjoy visiting this restaurant for lunch.

Very busy night. We had to wait for our reserved table but honestly, I don’t think it could have been helped it was packed and bustling. Excellent food and service. Holiday decor was festive. Overall great experience and we will be back.

Greeters were personable and attentive. Stopped at the bar to wait for the rest of my party and bartenders were busy but handled it well and were polite and fast. Table was set nicely and our server came soon to offer menus and options. Service throughout was prompt but unobtrusive. Really enjoyed the atmosphere and the history. Food was very good and portions were generous. I plan to go back!
