Casual waterfront dining right on the docks of the Patchogue River, The Oar serves up fresh and delicious steaks and seafood. Chefs prepare specialties like coconut shrimp, 36 oz sizzling prime porterhouse, lobster quesadillas and fresh Bluepoint oysters and little clams which are delivered daily. Two dining rooms are decorated in traditional nautical style. The front wall in made up of French doors that open onto the water, providing dockside open air seating in warm months and picturesque views of the marina year-round. The rear dining room is elegant with raise panel mahogany, white table clothes and blue and white nautical stripe wall paper. I forgot to take pictures of our foods ordered. We lucked out and it wasn’t busy. We had a show at the Theater to attend. Our waitress was great. First time I had an Old Fashioned, been curious about it and it was really good. I had the Burrata Salad with grilled shrimp and it was delicious. Fresh ingredients. Hubs ordered Best Chicken on the Block and he enjoyed it. Our friends ordered the Southwest Chopped Salad and the House Burger. Both were pleased with their meal. Plus a cocktail Rusty Nail, which was also tasty. Also an order of Hand Cut Fries for the table. It was a big plate, plenty for four people to share and tasty. Next time I go I’ll be ordering a Rusty Nail. I like the look of their bar style, just something about it.
