We asked David Burtka about what he loves most - food! You’ve maybe seen him from a handful of Broadway shows, maybe you saw him on hit TV show How I Met Your Mother, or even when he was a guest judge on a few fan-favorite culinary shows. David and his husband, Neil Patrick Harris, both currently reside in NYC, Harlem to be exact. They’re both huge foodies. Having an expertise in both food and entertainment, David has high expectations when it comes to restaurants. So as you can imagine, when looking for a place to eat, the ambience and food are things he looks for. Take a peek at some of his top culinary destinations next time you’re in the Big Apple.

About the restaurant
All good bets for a night out around Union Square. Fresh produce, delicious flatbreads, and during brunch you can shop at ABC while you wait for your food to arrive - how convenient!

My wife and I were in the city for a holiday night and ABC was close to our hotel. It was excellent - no complaints. Service was very good - our waitress or someone else was right by the table whenever we needed anything. Food was great - we started with ONE $25 scallop, but it was excellent and then shared the kale salad and ordered two of the pastas. Would definitely go back.

About the restaurant
One of the most elegant nights out you can have in the city. The decor transports you to a cozy spot in Europe. The food is fancy, yet approachable and utterly delicious.

Beautiful place. Great service and delicious food. With the extensive and expensive vine list the menu could have a salad dish and a choice of a side dish or two.

About the restaurant
Go here when you are hungry - I mean it. This place offers massive portions of rustic Italian pastas and fantastic proteins. It consists of a chic, open-space dining room that somehow feels cozy at the same time. This place is perfect for a large group.

Great food, great atmosphere. Shame they ran out of the hen of the woods mushrooms!

Upper West Side
About the restaurant
A staple for sushi in NYC. The fish is always fresh, and the dishes are always innovative. They have multiple locations throughout the city - all are delicious. Pro tip: the one in the Upper West Side is often easiest to get in at the last moment.

Excellent chirashi sushi beautifully presented. Possibly the best sweet egg omelette squares ever, and it’s not generally a favorite of mine.
