Roy Yamaguchi opens The Eating House 1849
at The Shops at Kukui'ula. Named after one of the first restaurants constructed in Hawai'i, by a Portuguese businessman named Peter Fernandez, Eating House pays homage to the popular casual eateries of the mid 19th century that incorporated a medley of flavors from the Island's growing and diverse communities.

Please call the restaurant to make reservations for parties of 5 or more. For parties of 10 or more we require credit card information to hold the reservation, and follow a 48 hour cancellation/no show policy; any cancellations withing 48 hours of your reservation date, or not showing up to a reservation will result in a charge of $20 per person.

    The food was delicious and the service was good. However, having made a reservation 2 months out we were very disappointed that we were not seated in a view area. We saw a party before us seated there and we were told that we world have to wait an additional 20 minutes after our reservation time, for which we had arrived we had arrived 30 minutes early. Unimpressed with front of the house and their lack of professionalism.

    We feasted on multiple apps and drinks and everything was delicious!! Service was great! Potstickers, Ahi stack and ribs phenomenal!

    Food was ok but not amazing as we were expecting. Service was definitely poor. Not sure if they were missing staff but we were told that we couldn’t be seated for 15 minutes past our reservation because the server wasn’t ready????? And then when we were seated the server comes over to tell us he needs a few more minutes before he can initially serve? Very strange and unfortunately put a damper on the evening.

    We’ve never been disappointed having dinner at one of Roy’s establishments and once again we had an awesome experience. Our pupus were excellent and the Miso Butterfish and Plantation were superb. The molten chocolate dessert was off the charts. We had an unbelievable dining experience.

    This was our first time dining here when on Kauai. It did not disappoint. The food, wine and dessert (pineapple upside down cake) were amazing.

    Excellent service and exceptional food at Eating house! Highly recommend the ribs and the ramen! The drinks were great too!

    Our waiter was terrific. Attentive and friendly. The other staff took good care of us as well. Always made sure water was filled and other needs taken care of as well.
