Best Steak Restaurants in Palos Verdes Estates

We love the Rex, and it's our go-to for Holidays, Anniversaries, Special Occasions., and the occasional burger/fries/martini at the bar. Food is outstanding, and so is the service, usually, but on this visit, the service was way way off. It took almost 15 minutes after we were seated for anyone to greet us and take a cocktail order. Then the cocktails took a loooong time. We had an 8 pm reservation, and we arrived a little early. We were seated right away, in a nice busy dining room, but after all the delays, we ended up being the only ones left, eating dinner in an empty restaurant after 9 pm. Not good, not why we want to go to The Rex. The food and drinks were very very good as always - really hoping this service lapse doesn't continue.

The staff shines. The food was amazing. We both had filet mignon and baked potatoes. Important to note that the potato was piping HOT - thank you for that, Chart House. (Lukewarm and cold potatoes are never worth eating). Our server Ashleighly (spelling?) was so attentive, kind, efficient and lovely. Every business should have an Ashleighly!

Unfortunately, my recent dining experience during the holiday season was far from enjoyable due to my garlic allergies. When I made the reservation, there was no indication that a standard holiday menu would be in place, which left me unprepared for the limited options available. As someone who is cautious about their food intake, particularly with allergens, I found myself in a frustrating situation where I could hardly find anything suitable to eat. While the staff kindly offered me a steak as an alternative, the $67 price tag was hard to justify when I rarely eat beef. The idea of spending that much on a meal I might not enjoy felt disheartening, especially during a festive time meant for celebration and indulgence. It was disappointing!

Even on Xmas day, service was pleasant and efficient. Always enjoy food and margaritas 🍹

Great experience - the lobster risotto was amazing, the short ribs was great. Was not a fan of the beets (Bland) - just red beets with salad. Would have preferred multi colored beets. Great experience overall.
