Best Japanese Restaurants in Queen Creek

My wife, and our son and his girlfriend, had dinner at Shimogamo Chandler to celebrate our son’s first job. For the first time, we ate at a table, instead of at the sushi counter. Our server, Micah, was terrific. She clearly knew the restaurant, the menu, the food and the drinks. We started with an excellent sake, Ippongi Daiichi Gitai, that was presented by the bar manager, Matt. We ordered a huge assortment of mostly nigiri sushi; Madai (Sea Bream), Mejina (Opaleye Nigiri), Kamasu (Barracuda Nigiri), Kinmedai (Goldeneye Snapper), Aji (Jack Mackerel), Umi Masu (Ocean Trout), Hotate (Sea Scallop), Anago (Sea Eel), Ama Ebi (Sweet Shrimp), Baja Uni (Sea Urchin Sashimi), Santa Barbara Uni (Sea Urchin Gunkan). Micah had the chefs course our fish selections perfectly. After the sushi, we had the Hatcho Miso Duck, Yuzu Mushroom and Fried Shishito Peppers. For dessert, my son and I tried the Harvest in Uji and Matcha Hai cocktails. Everything we had to eat and drink was delicious. If I had known that they had Kakigori (Japanese Shave Ice) for dessert, I would have saved room for it. That’s one more reason to return for another meal, I guess.

Our first time at this restaurant and were pleasantly surprised. The music level was way too loud for our comfort, but otherwise the food, and service were great. We will go back again and try the sushi bar.

There were three of us. It was a totally enjoyable experience. Our server was perfectly attentive, not too pushy/not too laid back, just perfect. Our food was exceptional. Thank you for a great time.

Ate here many times but this was the best it’s ever been. Probably due to a newer manager. Food quality was great. Quick, efficient service and the sweet manager took our picture and printed for us. A really nice touch!
