- SSPortland / Oregon •1 review5.0Dined 2 days agoSitting at the communal table is always a wild card. In this case, the other five diners were quiet and didn't really interact with us. The same gamble applies to the chef assignment. Nick did a good job (considering there was a strange dietary restriction that completely changed the way he seasoned the food) but he was pretty low key, didn't talk much or interact with us. The two chefs at the closest tables were both more gregarious. The food is basically $50 per person. It was delicious but my chicken was prepared at the end because the chef "miscalculated" at gave all the meat to the others.More infoBenihana - Beaverton, ORPrice: Moderate• Japanese• Beaverton•4.1
- DdanielChicago / Illinois •6 reviews5.0Dined 3 days agoIt took a solid 15 minutes or so before we were greeted, which isn't a big deal, but the Sushi bar was also a bit backed up, so it would have been nice to be able to at least get some drinks and starters going a bit quicker. That ends the complaints - service was overall exceptional. We got some fairly "standard" rolls, but even the rainbow roll that you can get just about anywhere was exceptional. They had monkfish liver on special with a yuzu sauce that was absolutely out of this world. There was also a jalapeno toro crispy rice nigiri special that was one of the best bites I've had all year - extremely unique flavors and a really fun party of textures. When I come back, I'll definitely explore some of the more unique options available - my party was a bit averse to branching out too much - even though they ended up *loving* the monkfish liver, our most "adventurous" pick. Seaweed salad and gomae were also top-notch. I had a "Scott Toddy" - probably the best hot toddy I've had (FYI: sweeter than usual). I'll probably pass on the house sake next time and spend the few extra bucks on something nicer. There was nothing wrong with it, and for $9 it'll do the job, but there's a reason you get 9oz for $9. I can't wait to come back.More infoMoMoYamaPrice: Expensive• Sushi• Pearl District•4.9

Love the ambiance and low-key atmosphere, it's great for couples or large groups. Their staff is the best! - CCareyPortland / Oregon •3 reviews5.0Dined on Dec 22, 2024Always an amazing experience at Janken. The server knew her stuff and helped us order the adequate amount for our party of six. The drinks were delicious. The place was packed and we all could easily hear each other. This is a must go to place in Portland.More infoJankenPrice: Very Expensive• Creative Japanese• Pearl District•4.7
- VVashtiPortland / Oregon •2 reviews4.0Dined on Nov 29, 2024The sashimi quality is high. Miso soup is really good as well. The back seating is pretty cute with Japanese style dividers between booths. The only small negative is that you can very easily hear other patrons conversations or arguments if they not being mindful of others.More infoSushi KuniPrice: Expensive• Sushi• West Linn•4.8
