Inspired by Italy’s aperitivo hour, when public squares and streets are filled with lively conversation, Portico serves handmade and authentic Italian fare in Sebastopol in western Sonoma County.A portico is a colonnade or covered walkway in classical architecture. Since the middle ages the elegant porticos of Bologna, Italy have a meeting place for the public as well as a place for business. Paolo Pedrinazzi (who is from Bologna) and Kat Escamilla, owners of the new Portico trattoria , bring this experience to Sebastopol. They even have monthly Regional dinner parties with live jazz. The setting includes an Italian fountain on their cozy patio. Portico offers light table service and counter ordering. Excellent Italian wines are sold in the restaurant at retail pricing; refreshingly unpretentious. The menu features an array of antipasti, handmade egg pasta, gluten free risottos, Bolognese lasagna, tiramisu, and baked goods . A market in the front is stocked with take-n-bake entrees

We had another stellar meal at Portico. It's one of our favorites. We are greeted warmly on arrival, seating promptly and then await a superlative meal. We started with the Vegetarian Antipasto with luscious crostini with mozzarella and sun dried tomatoes, vegetables and a fennel, orange and olive salad. We always have to have the light, fresh simply gorgeous arugula salad. It does not disappoint. We ordered the classic lasagne bolognese (superbly thin pasta, elegant meat sauce), Tortelloni with a squash stuffing, topped with sage butter (excellent) and the always perfect eggplant parmesan. We were sad to report we could not order a dessert, the chocolate cake in the case was beautiful, the tiramisu is always tempting, but we could not manage another bite last night. Excellent food, nice staff, we love it!

I’ve been here three times now and every single time has been a magical experience! The wine tasting paired with the meal is one of the best wine pairings I’ve ever done. We’ve tried almost all the dishes and everything was memorable, especially the mushroom raviolis. A charming, wonderful dinner experience you will never forget! all the staff is so heartwarming. Just Go! We’ll be back with another round of friends.

Great dining ambiance with friendly attentive staff. Justin made my son’s 21st birthday celebration extremely memorable. The food was hot and fresh, from calamari to calzone to Colombo pizza. Must get the honey spicy sauce on the side. It enhances every dish if you love spiciness. ‘Til next time ~ cheers!
