As a person who has lived in Italy, I will say that Walnut Creek has many fine Italian restaurants, but nothing as authentic as Montesacro. They serve Roman style Italian food, from Cacio e Pepe to Carbonara to the delicious Pinsa pizzas (Roman style square pizzas,). We had a variety of dishes (gnocchi pesto, lobster ravioli, frutti di mare, pappardelle) at our table of 5 and a couple people had special requests (such as no tomatoes or no salmon in the Frutti do Mare) and the restaurant was happy to make adjustments to any meal. All pasta tasted homemade! In addition to having a fantastic meal, the restaurant has a very nice view of the water from the dining area.
