Best Contemporary British Restaurants in Oxted

Our afternoon tea experience at The Ivy at Tunbridge Wells was exemplary. We went for our anniversary and the food, service and ambiance were amazing. We were even given a complementary ‘Happy Anniversary’ desert, which was very unexpected and a lovely gesture. Thank you to everyone who made our experience so memorable.

The Ivy is a beautiful restaurant however I will not be going on Valentine’s Day again. They shoved me and my husband on a tiny table in the upstairs function room which had be utilized for additional tables where I cut myself on a tree behind me. We felt rushed and there wasn’t enough room between the tables which made for a manic feeling. Food as always phenomenal and the staff did the best they could even though we had a different waiter for each course and they all seemed very overwhelmed nd tired.

We had a great lunch for three of us. The only challenge was choosing from the many excellent choices on the menu. The staff were so friendly and attentive. A great place which lived up to our memories of previous visits.

I went for lunch with a friend. The menu was varied and innovative. There were classic dishes and interesting variations such as Halloumi curry, which had wonderful flavours that popped in ones mouth. As a starter I had a very interesting anchovy dish which was a true delight of smoky and sea, reminiscent of holidays in Portugal. For dessert I went old school and enjoyed a treacle tart..mmm. We shall certainly return 🥰
