- MMICHAELVirginia •4 reviews5.0Dined 2 days agoHow to describe my favorite restaurant in Richmond and one of my favorites of all time...the experience starts once you walk in. The music, the art, the names of the dishes on the menu. For a few seconds the sounds and sights are like a roller coaster running full steam, but then everything settles into place and your visit begins to flow. Fresh truffle service tableside? This is the place to do that. Mac and Cheese with Maine Lobster and that truffle service? Sign me up. Swashbuckling Bundt Pirate cake served on a classic Aquaman plate for desert? Yes please. Just don't forget to get your reservation in well in advance. Dress code isn't stuffy, but leave the ball cap in the car.More infoL'OpossumPrice: Very Expensive• Contemporary American• Richmond•4.9

- JJeanVirginia •1 review5.0Dined 2 days agoWe spent our valentine's dinner at the bar. The choices in the set menu were balanced, we ended up getting the same dishes - both the salmon tartare and the filet mignon were outstanding. In particular the way the meat was cooked (sous-vide) delivered such a unique experience. I am a meat lover and this was just out of this world, tender, perfect medium rare, warm all over, flavorful... wow! Respect to the team for a great experience.More infoMidlothian Chef's KitchenPrice: Moderate• American• Midlothian•4.7
- CChrisVirginia •1 review5.0Dined 3 days agoTook my long-time friend for Valentine's Day. We have never tried 1870. I made a reservation a month in advance because it was Valentine's Day. We were seated on the second floor, the Jewett Room. They only have four tables in the room so compared to the bar area, it was quiet. We had a table for 4, so for the 2 of us we had plenty of room. My date started with a cocktail, "The Mother of all President's", which was fabulous. The service was terrific, special shout out to our waiter Jacob. The meal was perfectly prepared. We both had the 6 oz filet mignon and it was so flavorful and tender. We shared the sauteed spinach and au gratin potatoes. For dessert, we split the dark chocolate tart, which went well with our bottle of Caymas Cabernet. I highly recommend for a special occasion. We heard they have a great happy hour, so we will definitely return and check it out.More info1870 Restaurant and BarPrice: Expensive• American• Midlothian•4.6
- WWilliamVirginia •2 reviews5.0Dined 5 days agoThe Jefferson is one of the few places that remains as an example of old Richmond and I pray they never change. Just listen to the visitors from all over sitting around me and all you hear are people commenting to each other how delicious their meal is. My wife and I have enjoyed an evening there many times and I have tried several of the meals there. Every time it was exceptional. From their Tenderloin to their Rockfish, each meal was a special event. If you are looking for somewhere for a formal occasion like a special date, anniversary, etc. I highly recommend the Jefferson. It is a bit pricey, but the food and service is second to none.More infoLemaire at The Jefferson HotelPrice: Expensive• Contemporary American• Richmond•4.8
