With mismatched retro-style decor and a bookshelf stacked with books, Hong Kong’s The 5B Private Corner provides the perfect space to chill up with friends, or cosy up with your laptop or a novel. The cuisine on offer here is delicious too, ranging from gourmet beef burgers piled high with toppings and casual snacks like paninis to an array of pastas like the mixed mushroom spaghetti with truffle sauce, and main course dishes like the pan-fried Spanish black pork. Whether it is for a three-course meal or some speciality coffee sided with some home-baked cake or dessert, The 5B Private Corner on the fifth floor of the Tsuen Tung Factory Building on Chai Wan Kok Street is the ideal location. Waffles simply don’t come any better than this. Zi has plenty of style, its chic decor and modern leather furniture creating a mood the envy of any Tsim Sha Tsui cafe longing for that lounged out ‘laxed vibe – but their waffles have even more class. We’re talking chocolate-scented Japanese mochi-based waffles sprinkled with puffed rice, classic strawberries and cream or bamboo charcoal waffles with homemade rose strawberry jam and Movenpick vanilla ice cream, each more photo-worthy than the last. The menu goes a lot further than waffles at Zi, too, with their signature mushroom tagliatelle with black truffle worthy of mention, and their coffee and tea is several levels above the Hong Kong standard. Zi is just off Chatham Road in the Wai Wah Building on Granville Road – mark it boldly on your map if you like the idea of waffle heaven.

Whether you’re in the mood for high-quality Italian cuisine or coffee and cake with your friends, Cova Ristorante & Caffe in Central Hong Kong is the place for you. This opulent restaurant and cafe specialises in mouth-watering Italian and European cuisine, and you’ll love the range of dishes on offer. We love starting with the cured salmon and fennel salad or deep-fried assorted seafood, before sampling the handmade panini with lobster; vegetarian lasagna or Milanese veal cutlet served with fried potatoes. Delicious, flavoursome and creative, Cova Ristorante & Caffe on Chater Road in Hong Kong won’t disappoint. Be sure to save room for dessert though – the signature tiramisu is one of our favourites!
