   This restaurant was outstanding. The service was great and the food and drinks were absolutely outstanding. Our experience far surpassed our expectations. We will return the next time we visit Savannah!

   My second meal there and for the 2nd time in a row, we were seated at the worst small table in the middle of the basement. For the 1st meal, we were with another couple and it was very cramped .... the second time , 2 nights ago we were sat there after I requested a "nice table for my wife's birthday". It was the literally the WORST Table in the place ....and then to really add insult to that, they brought a younger couple down 10 minutes after us and the host cleared off several place settings at a big corner table in the basement and made it a lovely 2 seater in corner. Wow ... my wife and I both just dropped our chins. Maybe they are regulars, maybe big spenders, maybe asking for a nice table on an actual birthday using Open Table is mostly ignored because I'm sure it is an abused request, but no one asked or spoke with us about it and our server, while nice, was interested in talking with the local regulars from teaching days or something, so we had to wait and/ or waive our hand to get help at least twice. I'll try some other places now that we live here before I want my 3rd meal here and spend another $200 night with Circa 1875.

   Circa 1875 never disappoints! We started with excellent cocktails (the namesake Circa 1875 is their riff on a French 75 and hubs had a Centurion…a very fancy drink!) The escargot is a MUST. Pro tip: if you order the charcuterie board for an app, be prepared for a MASSIVE presentation. I usually order that for my entree! It was superb. Absolutely fantastic. There are no “misses” on this menu. Every single thing is a winner.

   Nice New Year’s Eve dinner there! Service was top notch, the atmosphere was great, the food was great, particularly the champagne, the bread, the octopus and the profiteroles! The sea bass special could have used a more flavorful sauce; the escargots could have had a more pronounced parsley garlic flavor. But these two remarks are very minor compared to the great pleasure we had at Circa 1875!

   Service was very slow, sat and looked at our martinis for 10 minutes while waiting for server to bring to our table, we ended up going to grab them ourselves. We requested ceiling fan to be put on since it was so hot and he didn't think he could do it as he had to seek mgr permission, it was forgotten and we had to remind waiter. Food presentation for the chicken was not as noted on the menu, greasy side potatoes and a small piece of chicken when it should have been a split chicken breast, was costly for that small chicken. This restuarant was awesome a year ago, maybe they changed management...
