   While the food and service was wonderful Our arrival was not The restaurant was mostly empty on the New Years holiday. The manager was at the hostess desk He seated us. Walking our family of 5 to a round table by the patio doors and bus station. Since the restaurant was empty, simply asked for the beautiful round table in front dining space to which we were abruptly told no as it was reserved. We dined for almost 3 hours ….no more diners arrived. Why be dishonest to patrons? Why not try to accommodate? Why not welcome those in the restaurant making the choice to dine with you when there are so many other options in the area? Why not be appreciative of a family of 5? Clearly he knew based on the number of empty tables no one else was coming. A simple gesture, providing the desired table would have left all of us happier, but now, despite a beautiful meal and lovely server, the fact that the restaurant sat empty is the impression we left with. Was the manager more interested in getting us out? Or providing us a good dining experience?

   Chops is one of our favorites when in Fort Myers, but they were off this visit. Salads were good; however, my pan seared black grouper, which I have had many times, was terrible! The piece had a really odd shape, super thick on one end … and was complete RUBBER … way overcooked … so bad that I had to use a knife to cut it. I should have sent it back, but hate doing that. This dish has always been fantastic, so I was very disappointed. Service was good, although the waitress was very matter of fact … not friendly … hardly ever smiled. Ambiance was excellent, as always. Regardless of tonight’s experience, we will return.

   Our family tradition is to have our New Year’s Eve dinner at Chops. The food menu offers something for all tastes/diets, and has expanded slightly with the addition of some sushi selections. Our steaks were perfect. The live piano softens conversation noise. A favorite restaurant in this beautiful part of Florida.

   Server was awful, food drop on flor before we sat down had splatter on chair and table. She was constantly trying to upsell! My my ny strip was extremely fatty . Our guest filet needed to be sent back as under cooked.. expensive dinner for poor clumsy service.

   Food was not that good, esp for the price many other better steakhouses around here where steak is better and just as nice an environment.

    Chops steaks are back to their Best ! They just have to review their prices. $81 for a bone in Strip and then $12 for a tiny portion of Fries and a further $12 for Onion Rings Makes the Steak Dinner $105 plus tip $20 One Hundred and Twenty Five Dollars !!!! That’s NYC Prices and Chops is not as good.
