The part of tonight's experience that stood out most to me was the elegant presentation of the dishes. I also very much appreciated the service provided.

The food was incredible. Everything we ate was excellent. The crazy part of the evening was that our waiter forgot _literally_ everything we asked for. "Could we get some lemons for the water?" - response "of course". Nothing. "Could we get an extra spoon for the soup so my wife can share?" - response "Certainly". Spoon never came, used the same spoon. "Could we get some bread to go with the soup" - "right away"...Nada. It became a point of laughter with my wife and I as we thought our teenage son had possessed the waiters body and he was now waiting on us! No embellishment - 8 distinct requests, not one fulfilled. Wow!

My wife and I had our first date at this location 40 years ago. It was a different building, a different menu and a better view (mature trees block much of the view). The positive is limited: It is a lovely location and it has a very good feel to it (good ambiance. They seem to be going for a French or Continental feel. If horrible service equates to Continental they they were successful. We arrived early and the restaurant was not busy when we arrived. The hostess was very pleasant and accommodating. It went downhill from there. With an empty restaurant I was not expecting to spent over two hours waiting for food. The scallops were excellent. The chicken was tough. The rest of the meal than came out in 20 minute increments was okay. I ordered a diet coke. My wife finally mentioned to the hostess (not the waiter) that I had ordered the drink. She had asked for lemon to go with her water... it never came. We started laughing about how slow the service was as the meal proceeded. The table occupancy during our two hours ranged from three to five tables (near the end). Fortunately for us, we were able to reminisce and reminisce. We discussed every restaurant we had enjoyed in 40 years, we discussed the highlights of each of the 50 states we've visited. I'd hate to think of the experience with someone who didn't talk a lot. We were running short on topics by the end ourselves and we've been married 39 years. At the beginning of the meal we discussed this as a special event restaurant especially as we had memories attached to the location, if not the restaurant itself. By the end, we realized that we would never return. The price of the meal was irrelevant to our dissatisfaction. It is, of course by design, a very expensive restaurant; but for the price I would have expected a better meal and most certainly more attentive service.

This is a fancy more expensive restaurant more suited to special occasions. The food was very good and it was fun to try something you wouldn't find at the usual places.

My husband and I visit this restaurant about twice a year. The menu has changed quite a lot since our last visit and I have to say I am not as thrilled with the choices as I once was. That doesn't mean we didn't get good food though. However there was only one starter we wanted to try and in the past there have been at least 3 or 4. We started with a cheese board. We got a lot of cheese on this board and it could have used a bit more of the compote that came with it due to the amount of cheese. A bit surprised to see a cheese board as an appetizer - this is something usually ordered after dinner. Had a watermelon, feta cheese and ham salad. Good but would have preferred the watermelon to be fresh and not compressed. Main entrees of lamb chops and quail stuffed with sausage. Lamb and all sides it came with were very good. Quail was good as were the accompanying sides but could have lived without the sausage it was stuffed with. The sausage does not do anything for this dish. Dissappointed in dessert selection. Where is the chocolate? There was only one chocolate choice on the menu. There should be at least two choices...women love chocolate! Overall good food but we've definitely had much better food experiences here in the past. Service was the worst we've had here before. The server was nowhere to be found. She would show up whenever she felt like it. Once we got the food she never checked to make sure everything was ok with the food and when we wanted to order dessert she didn't come back to the table for ages. You would have thought she had 10-15 large tables. I would give her some slack had she been busy but she only had 2 tables of 2 people (the only patrons in the restaurant). She did the bare minimum and let the bus person take care of everything. I really was tempted to hand the tip to the bus person and not give the server a penny. I certainly did not tip what I would have had the service been good.

Rolls were slightly burnt; starters were bland; salad was fair; main course was poor; service was fair - we didn't bother with dessert. This used to be a GREAT place with amazing food - sad it has fallen so far. We kindly brought a couple of the problems to the attention of the server. We were told other s had had the same complaints - there was no effort to make the problems right - a main course should at least be warm. We will not return. We would NOT recommend to others.

We went to Chef's Table for our wedding anniversary and the food was great, but the service was extremely lack luster and sub-par.

My wife and I were celebrating our nineteenth wedding anniversary and so we decided to go to the upscale restaurant, Chef's Table. We had heard that the owners had changed hands and we wanted to see if the new owners could pass muster. We started with two appetizers, tomato soup with melted asiago cheese for my wife and the seared scallops for me. Both apps were very good. For our main courses my wife chose the tenderloin and I chose the lambchops. The tenderloin was prepared with an expert hand but two of the three lamb chops I ate were more overdone than the medium rare I had requested. When inquiring about dessert I asked our waitress if the ice cream had eggs since I know that small batch and high-end ice cream usually does, and I am allergic to eggs. It was obvious that she was unaware that the ice cream could even contain eggs and she tried to convince me of that fact. I persisted, and asked if she would inquire about it since I did not want the paramedics to spoil our celebratory dinner. It turned out that the ice cream did contain eggs so I opted for the sorbet. My wife had the chocolate dome. Both of our desserts were excellent. It should be noted that the rest of the waitstaff were excellent. I would suggest that all waitstaff know the ingredients of everything they serve. Overall grade for tonight's dinner: B

The food and atmosphere were great. I had a steak that was melt-in-your-mouth perfection, while my wife had a chicken dish that was similarly great. Dessert was to die for. The staff were attentive and prompt.

I love good food, and I'm willing to spend a lot of money for quality. My appetizer was fine, but my main course completely missed the mark. I ordered the lamb with roasted corn risotto. The lamb was fatty, and ended up soggy. The risotto had no flavor at all. I truly hope that this was an accidental oversight, because it had zero seasoning. My wife had the tenderloin, and it was decent. The dessert was our best course. Our server didn't check on us at all, and never asked us how our meal was. We hoped this would be a culinary gem, but it wasn't. We won't be going back...
