Welcome to a taste of history!

Denver’s original steakhouse, The Buckhorn Exchange is located in the city’s oldest neighborhood, just 5-minutes from downtown Denver -- with a light-rail stop right across the street. This National Historic Landmark and Western Museum has been serving the finest in Old West fare since 1893.

Prime grade beef steaks, buffalo prime rib, elk, salmon, quail, game hen, and succulent baby-back pork ribs are just some of the marvelous offerings on the Buckhorn menu. Exotic appetizers such as alligator tail and buffalo sausage are available, and no dinner is complete without the house specialty, Rocky Mountain Oysters.

For lunch we serve up a lighter fare including our renowned Grandma Fanny’s pot roast sandwich, enormous beef and buffalo burgers and more!

Everything I imagined. I have never spent this much for dinner, but it was worth every dollar I spent. All 6 of us agreed the meal was perfect. Service was excellent. I forget her name but she was from India. She told us the history of the building and of the Zietz family. Keep her around. She is professional and charming. I would highly recommend your establishment to anyone that would listen. Definitely looking forward to my next meal at the Buckhorn Exchange.

This is a must try historic place in Denver. So much history and very cool spot. Food was just good, nothing bad, but it was a little too bland for me. Good portions and excellent service. Also it’s expensive even considering everything is expensive these days.

The service was excellent! Staff was incredibly attentive. Having been here several times before, we were woefully disappointed in the food. Hardly any of it had flavor. The Rocky Mountain Oysters (usually wonderful) and the fried artichoke hearts were so bland. The ribs were nearly flavorless and inedible. The New York strip was fine. The lamb chops and quail were the best out of everything. A truly sub par experience.

I've been to the Buckhorn many times over the past 30 years and it definitely is not what it used to be in overall quality and experience. Maybe it's just the times we live in and my expectations from history . It's good, but not great....I love the Rocky Mountain oysters. My salad was wilted and looked like they made it the day before. I ordered the simple medium rare Elk steaks and they weren't bad at all...not the sweet real tender ones that I've had on a previous visit, but still pretty good and cooked to order. Now, if you looked at my baked potato you might wonder how it shrunk so much in size. It looked like a large lemon, not a large potato. The small vegetable sides weren't any better. It's just that this restaurant used to be real top drawer. You can't complain about the service...real good and as far as a destination place to go and enjoy a meal, well I guess it still meets those qualifications. I'll return in awhile and order my oysters and another steak down the road

This is a really fun place to eat! The atmosphere is awesome! For the price you pay, they really skimp on things. The steaks are great, but the sides, salads, and bread rolls taste store bought and super cheap. They don’t even use real butter for the rolls.

An overall phenomenal experience! From the moment we walked in, we felt very welcomed. Be sure to tour the upstairs and downstairs and take plenty of pictures. We enjoyed the calamari and beef tips for appetizers. I had a New York strip done to perfection. We took our servers advice and had the apple strudel à la mode. It was an extra choice! We will sure to be back! Thank you for a great time!
