Artisan Bistro is a modern and inviting dining room dressed in rich dark and light woods with elegant European design elements. Accents of black, off-white, cognac, blues and warm grays echo a classic bistro look and feel. Crafted wood wainscoting throughout the room and soft ambient lighting from above highlight the white-washed, wood floors to further enhance the bistro-like setting. New stitched-leather booth seating lines the dramatic floor to ceiling wall of windows overlooking Avery Street and two high-top u-shaped booths frame the space on either end. Additional cluster seating is intimate and close, allowing for easy conversation and lively exchange. Artisan Bistro features fresh, local seasonal dishes that present artisanal cooking in an approachable way.

Review summary

AI-generated from verified diner reviews
Artisan Bistro is a delightful dining destination at the Ritz-Carlton Boston, praised for its "phenomenal service" and "outstanding food." The seafood tower and brunch options are highlights, complemented by a well-curated wine list. Despite some high drink prices, its elegant ambiance and convenient location near theaters make it a perfect pre-show choice.

The service was very good and everyone enjoyed the appetizers. We were told that the special was pan seared scallops and three of us ordered that special. The special was actually baked scallops buried in tons of butter and breadcrumbs. Also, the prices were very high. The location was convenient for an after ballet supper but we would not rush back.

Way over priced. Nice to have a holiday experience with a friend but it was also freezing, not being near the fireplace at all, and the tables are so small and low it’s truly not a terribly comfortable experience to be eating at. Cocktails maybe but that’s about it.

We had a wonderful brunch at Artisan Bistro! We went before we saw the Nutcracker and our server was attentive, friendly and helpful. The food was delicious - we ordered an omelette, blueberry pancakes, avocado toast, Croque Madame and lobster benedict, which the kitchen made especially for us! The drinks were yummy, too. We had a great experience!

I went with my wife for our anniversary dinner. We arrived a little earlier than our reservation time and it wasn’t that busy and had no expectation of being sat early. We told the host our name and she told us we were early, which we knew. We were seated and the waiter got our drinks. In terms of the food, the rolls were delicious, I would go back just for them. The French onion soup was tasty, I enjoyed the broth with rosemary. Not as cheesy as some other French onion soups but still delicious. My wife had the beat salad which was also good, and decent sized portion. We decided not to get entrees because the weather was pretty bad and it was going to take us longer to get across town. We were given a Giftcard for our anniversary and were told we needed a physical card and the email wouldn’t work. This is what the manager told our server, even though in the email it says show the email to your server. Overall, this experience and food was just ok. I am not sure I would go back again which is too bad because I have been to other Ritz locations and have had a wonderful experience.

Artisan Bistro is one of our favorite restaurants to visit before a show at the Opera House. We love the charcuterie board, which provides enough food for two people. This time, we also added a beet salad, which was wonderful. I will definitely order it again!

Our food was served cold and after a long wait. I had to tell the waitress that I had a meeting and she finally brought our food. She was lovely but I think she forgot us. My food was delicious but I had to pack it up to get to my meeting. Not a great experience

Very cozy and nicely decorated. The staff as ok, not what we’re used to when we go to the Ritz. The hot chocolate was lukewarm and underwhelming. We were hoping for a Christmas experience but it fell flat. They should play Christmas music or any sort of music for that matter. Not worth over $40 a person.
