I hate to write this review about the best restaurant in the Concord area but the current menu is a loser. I recognize that it is winter and fresh produce are likely limited to root vegetables but many of these menu options are not very palatable - the charred cabbage needs something to spice it up (or better yet ditch it from the menu; the hake was cooked perfectly but its sauce was distracting and not a good flavor. the scallops remain a winner (no wonder it is one of the few things that remains from prior menus. bring back the steak frites and some of the other winners.

Delicious experience! Nice ‘go-to’ spot in Conord. The duck entree was fabulous.

This was our go-to place prior to Covid, having gone a dozen times. Never a complaint. Always 5 stars. This fall we returned to their new menu. We had chicken the first time- very tender but salty. This time we tried the steak frites. Again very salty and tough on outside. The Brussel sprouts were also salty. The frites were expected to be salty. The salad had just come out of the refrigerator and the bowl was icy, not too appealing to touch on a very wintery night. Service was great as usual.

Lovely from start to finish! Our only “complaint” is there was no signage outside the building so we walked around puzzled for a bit

Excellent food, wine, service--the key ingredients for a top-flight restaurant. We have eaten at 80 Thoreau many times and surely will return. The sound bounce is louder than we would like, and it's not a thrift option. But these are small minuses in our book compared to the upside of having a nearby suburban restaurant as good as Boston's best.

Overall a very good first time experience. Warm, pleasant ambience. Welcoming host with a smile. Creative dishes, very flavorful. One waiter, pleasant, attentive and knowledgeable of the menu, for about 12 tables at a busy dinner time (6-8pm) albeit he had help from other servers. The only disappointment was the fatty pork belly served with a Japanese dish which was otherwise very good. Would not order again. Overall pricey menu and wine list with a few “value” options available. Ordered a French Gamay which was very good. Suggest a couple more offerings in each menu category of small, medium and large. Had a dry martini which was good not great - for the price, a bit larger martini glass and less vermouth (ie literally a drop of vermouth when dry is requested) would have made it very good - to our top 5 list). We plan to visit again and now more prepared for menu and how to be more specific when ordering our martini’s.

This is our favorite "fancy" restaurant for birthdays and anniversaries but sometimes, like this week, for no reason at all. The service is fantastic, the vibe is really nice, and the food is to die for. Andrew the Sommelier never steers us wrong--he knows his wines really well.
